Efeitos do tratamento fisioterapeutico em portadores de neuropatia diabética: revisão de literatura

Abstract

The main objective of this academic work is to review, through literature, the effects of physical therapy treatment on patients with diabetic neuropathy. In this study, a methodology of a descriptive and bibliographical research was developed based on a solid foundation based on scientific materials, whose theoretical basis was given through scientific books and articles that clearly address the research topic and put forward forward the desires of the researcher and the authors involved in their horizon of interest. Considering the great relevance of the researched subject, we postulate that diabetes as a chronic disease leads to several complications that contribute to increased morbidity and mortality, among which we can mention the vascular complications that cause retinopathy and nephropathy, systemic arterial hypertension, dyslipidemia and neuropathies. The chronic complications of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) are the main factors responsible for morbidity and mortality, including macrovascular, microvascular and diabetic neuropathy (ND), which comprises a set of clinical syndromes that affect the motor peripheral sensory nervous system and autonomic, isolated or diffuse, in the proximal or distal segments, being its acute or chronic installation, of reversible or irreversible character, being able to manifest itself silently or with dramatic symptomatic pictures. For the execution of this study We found 44 studies, and after reading the abstracts of the articles, we selected 15 considered of potential relevance for this review. However, after reading the articles, only seven studies addressed peripheral diabetic neuropathy and the effects of physiotherapeutic treatment. In the present study, it was possible to show that there was a difference in the loss of strength in diabetic neuropathic patients in relation to diabetics without neuropathy
