Abstract: | In this work we present applications of the molecular model to the study of positron interaction with atoms and molecules. In this model, the positron is treated as a light nucleus and its motion can be completely separated, in an adiabatic form, from the motion of the other electrons in the system. All information about the dynamics of interaction of positronic complexes can be obtained from the Potential Energy Surface and the most relevant electronic properties are calculated. We apply this model in the study of three different phenomena of the positron interaction: 1 calculation of the annihilation rates in positron complexes with atoms in a bound state; 2 study of geometry relaxation in the complexes with polar molecules and their effects on electric properties of the systems and3. positron elastic scattering cross-section (differential and integral) from noble gases. |
