Demanda por serviços de saúde: o caso SABESPREV

Abstract

The aim of this work is esteem the demand for health services. Its main contribution is to look for to understand the determinative ones of the expenses from the optics of a population covered for a plan of health in the modality of auto - management. The used dependent variable is the expense with ambulatoriais and hospital services. These variable had been constructed from the data gotten in the data base of the plan and if they characterize for one high degree of trustworthiness in its fulfilling due the same one to be to correspond to the effected payments the net supplier. The main variable socioeconomic used they are sex, age, civil state, income and instruction degree, the two last available ones only for the bearers of the plan. They had been constructed indicative proxies of the state of health of the individuals from the data in the bank. The main joined results indicate great importance of the sex, the age and the state of health passed in the determination of the ambulatoriais expenses. For the hospital expenses the models had basically caught two variable as determinative of this type of expense: the age and the individuals that died. The results had also indicated that the elasticity of the expenses increases with the age and that the individuals that died possess high elasticity. To understand the determinative ones of these results is significant for the elaboration of public politics.
