| Abstract: | A abordagem da propriedade e do trabalho na economia de Minas Gerais no século XIX é o principal esforço empreendido no presente estudo. O novo perfil da economia mineira, onde predominou as atividades agropecuárias, manteve a estrutura escravista, porém também mostrou formas de organização do trabalho calcadas na mão-de-obra livre. O trabalho camponês é a principal delas e por isso está no centro da discussão que evidenciamos. As unidades produtivas que utilizavam majoritariamente o trabalho livre ou um pequeno número de escravos se assemelhavam em suas características econômicas, demográficas e produtivas. Por outro lado, a pesquisa que teve como foco espacial o termo da cidade de Mariana, mostrou uma significativa capacidade de acumulação da elite escravista local, composta por fazendeiros, como na Freguesia Furquim, e de grandes comerciantes, como na vila sede do termo. |
| Abstract: | The principal interesting of this study was to approach the question of the property and the economy in Minas Gerais during the 19th century. The economy in Minas Gerais in that period was predominantly agrarian with a slavering structure, but the free labor was also recognized principally in the rural activities. The free labor in the rural activities is focused in this study. We predict that some productive unities based in the free labor showed economy, demography and production close to others with a small number of slavers. By other side, the research realized in Mariana city showed a significant capacity of capital accumulation by the slavers owners who were farmers at the countryside (e.g. Freguesia Furquim) and big traders at downtown. |
