| Abstract: | A Infecção urinária associada ao cateter vesical está entre as infecções relacionadas à assistência à saúde mais comuns em unidades de terapia intensiva, tendo como um dos fatores de risco o longo tempo de permanência desse cateter. Esse trabalho buscou identificar por meio de uma revisão integrativa a relação entre infecção urinária e permanência prolongada de cateter vesical de demora, em pacientes internados em unidades de terapia intensiva. Verificou-se que a permanência prolongada do cateter vesical poderá levar ao risco de uma infecção urinária e uma das estratégias para prevenção mais relevante foi a retirada do cateter de acordo com a evolução clínica o mais precoce possível. |
| Abstract: | Urinary tract infection associated with indwelling catheter is among related to the most common health care in intensive care units, having as one of the risk factors the long residence time that catheter infections. This study sought to identify through an integrative review the relationship between urinary infection and prolonged stay of indwelling catheters in patients admitted to intensive care units. It was found that the prolonged stay of the bladder catheter may lead to the risk of urinary tract infection and one of the most important strategies to prevent removal of the catheter was in accordance with the earlier clinical course possible. |
