Implementação de ações para o controle do tabagismo na Unidade de Saúde do Bairro Santa Cruz, Coronel Fabriciano, Minas Gerais

Abstract

The smoking is recognized as a chemical dependence classified in the Tenth Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), in the group of the mental and behavioral disorders due to psychoactive substance use. It is considered as the largest cause of avoidable death in the world and a serious problem of public health. Annually, die about five million smokers in the world in consequence of the diseases related to the tobacco, being about 200.000 deaths in Brazil. The interest in studying the smoking appeared starting from the evaluation of epidemic data picked by the team of health that identified a significant number of smokers in the inclusion area. The study has as general objective to enlarge the actions returned to the smokers in agreement with the National Program of Control of smoking starting from a rising accomplished by the Team of Health of the Family. For theoretical grounding a research was accomplished in the base of data of the Virtual Library in Health, manuals of Ministry of Health and INCA and in literatures that complement the thematic. The research began in march of 2014 and extended to july of the same year. The study proposes an action plan focused on the approach and treatment of those smokers living in the catchment area of the Red Team of Santa Cruz Health Unit at Coronel Fabriciano city. Its expected that the implementation of this plan will contribute to the reduction of smoking among residents of the area covered by the team and that can serve as an incentive for the formation of other groups for smokers to improve the indicators of public health and the reduction of mortality resulting from tobacco-related diseases.
