Aleitamento materno: acompanhamento e orientação de gestantes da cidade de Rio Pomba-MG atendidas pela Unidade Básica de Saúde Dr Romeu Vidal

Abstract

The maternal breastfeeding is widespread practice whose benefits have been studied over the years by institutions belonging to countries around the world. Its importance when performed at an appropriate time, in an exclusive way, it doesnt show such a complete kind of food and with such advantages that exceeds nutrition issues whose infant formulas assist in a quite satisfactory way. Besides food, the breast milk presents a protecting factor to the newborn and it prevents chronic diseases highly prevalent in our society, besides the economic importance and its role on children's cognitive and behavioral development. The great incentive to this practice, by government and non-government institutions, have promoted a progressive increase of the taxes of maternal breastfeeding however, still very far from what is expected to achieve. The present intervention project seeks to consolidate the knowledge on the practice of the maternal breastfeeding among the staff of Family Health, and to disseminate such knowledge to the target population in the attempt to corroborate with the increase of the practice in Rio Pomba's city.
