Metarepresentação: demandas por representatividade do movimento social dos surdos brasileiros

Abstract

This work discusses the notion of metarepresentation – questioning the legitimity of the political discursive representation (Saward, 2010; Dryzek, 2008) – from a research on the brazilian deaf people social movement. Our unit of analysis is the representative claims. Adopting a systemic approach, we analyzed the representative claims addressed in: a) a closed group including leaders of deaf people organizations of a social movement in Facebook, b) a public court hearing and c) a Working Group on Education within the National Conference of Disabled People’s rights. We doid a map with the representative claimsa and a sistemic analyse. The conclusion is that the metarepresentation can be activated to a) celebrate the deaf and disabled people’s protagonism, b) to question the representativity in the formal domaines of participation and c) to claim the motto of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Convention: “nothing about us without us”.
