Itinerários e Visões da Cidade: Educação para o Patrimônio na cidade de Sabará MG

Abstract

In this text we investigate the pedagogical use of the ‘Museu do Ouro’, alongside with the urban landscape of the city it is located, Sabará (Minas Gerais, Brazil), and their role on the debate about memory sites defined by official speeches that constitute public narratives of history. We analyse the museum’s narrative by identifying exhibited objects that represent material culture and stimulate perceptive acts about the city. We created itineraries that go from the museum to the city interrogating the heritagization and musealization local processes through sensitive perceptions of the people that inhabit the city and make an educative use of the museum. We use the oral history method to reveal which city visions are possible beyond the museal narrative and what other heritage projects are built by the subjects, stimulating the reflection about instituted memory and the memories shared amongst the residents of Sabará. The research is currently in progress and so far data on the objects exhibited on ‘Museu do Ouro’ and the protected patrimony of the city has been collected.
