O labirinto e a bússola

Abstract

In this thesis, I intend to work with the Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges's work. My aim is to explore some of the resourses that he uses when composing his pieces of literature. Resourses which have brought new elements to the literature. I have tried to locate him in the Argentina's contexte and also in the scenery of the literary theories of the 20- Century, searching for his way of dealing with time, once this is a concept that has found grounds in almost all the areas of the human knowlege and that his work also puts in evidence. In this way, I will be able to compare his esthetic proposition to the language of other subjects such as mathematics, philosophy and psycoanalysis. To reach that, 1 will be looking forward to exploring the references made to Zenon de Eléia and the way Borges uses his paradoxes as the theme or the structure for the making up process of his own text.
