Pintura enquanto texto: análise semiótica d'A Noite Estrelada

Abstract

The general objective of this work is to analyze the work The Starry Night, by Vincent van Gogh, to understand its characteristics as a visual text and the meanings that can be generated when reading it. To do this, we are basing ourselves on the theoretical-methodological tools of French semiotics, relying on authors such as Lara (2012), Morato (2008) Pietroforte (2004, 2013, 2016), Teixeira (1998), among others. In methodological terms, we analyzed the work relating the content plan with the expression plan. In terms of content, we analyze the discursive level and the fundamental level; at the expression plan, we analyze the chromatic, topological and eidetic categories; and by correlating them, semi-symbolic relationships important to the construction of meanings were highlighted. We conclude, therefore, that this approach proved to be productive in understanding the work and that it can serve as support for educators, facilitating the teaching of reading focused on pictorial texts.
