| dc.description.abstract | The objective of this article is to identify the existence of a complementarity relationship between migration and commuting in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba (RMC) between 2000 and 2010 and to verify how the labor market can influence this relationship. A descriptive and explanatory analysis of the microdata from the Demographic Census of 2000 and 2010 showed a significant percentages of complementarity between migration and commuting, that is, a significant part of individuals who migrate, mainly from Curitiba to surrounding areas, became out commuters and work in the migratory origin (Curitiba). An analysis of secondary data on the total number of occupations of municipalities compared to the total number of resident immigrants in the municipalities shows that, for the most part, the occupations are not sufficient to explain the immigration and the average income of the surrounding areas is smaller than central city and would not be an attractive factor. | |

| local.description.resumo | O objetivo deste artigo é identificar a existência de uma relação de complementaridade entre a migração e a pendularidade na Região Metropolitana de Curitiba (RMC) entre 2000 e 2010 e verificar como o mercado de trabalho pode influenciar nessa relação. Uma análise descritiva e explicativa dos microdados dos Censos Demográficos de 2000 e 2010 mostram percentuais significativos de complementaridade entre a migração e a pendularidade, ou seja, parte significativa dos indivíduos que migram, principalmente de Curitiba para o entorno, se tornam pendulares de saída e trabalham na origem migratória (Curitiba). A análise dos dados secundários do total de ocupações dos municípios em comparação com o total de imigrantes residentes nesses municípios mostra que, na maior parte deles, as ocupações existentes não são suficientes para explicar a imigração e o rendimento médio dos municípios do entorno é menor que do núcleo e não seria um fator atrativo. | |
