Prevalência e etiologia do traumatismo dental entre crianças e adolescentes: revisão de literatura

Abstract

Dental trauma is a common occurrence in early childhood, and is considered by the World Health Organization (WHO) to be a Public Health problem, which can involve anything from a small fracture in the enamel to the permanent loss of the tooth element. The aim of this study is to describe the prevalence and average of those affected by trauma among children and adolescents, as well as the causes of traumatic dental injuries involving gender and identifying the frequency of sequelae after trauma.Some inclusion criteria were established, such as: Publications that focused on dental trauma among children and adolescents. After reading all the material, comprehension was carried out for analysis and the theoretical framework was elaborated.To carry out this bibliographical study, searches were carried out in MEDLINE (Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System online), SCIELO (Online Scientific Electronic Library) and LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences) databases in addition to of books in the field of dental trauma and collective oral health.
