Ainda invisíveis? Eleições 2018 e a questão indígena no Twitter

Abstract

The presidential elections of 2018 will have the participation of Sonia Guajajara, indigenous of the Guajajara people, candidate for the Vice-Presidency of the Republic by PSOL. This is something unprecedented for Brazilian democracy, since historically indigenous peoples have been marginalized from the spaces of political representation. The reasons for this invisibility are related to the maintenance of colonial features that sustain racial and ethnic prejudice and make it difficult to recognize indigenous populations. The present work seeks to analyze on Twitter which are the main political actors that make up the network that defends the indigenous cause in the period of preelectoral campaign. The findings demonstrate that the main proponents of the indigenous cause that compose the researched network come from non-governmental organizations formed by nonindigenous people.
