Resumo
Partindo da compreensão histórica do carnaval como festa popular da irreverência e dos excessos, mas também como espaço de lutas, de reivindicações e da inversão da ordem social, faz-se nesse artigo a leitura do processo de crescimento da festa a partir das tensões entre as lutas sociais, o papel do Estado enquanto gestor da cidade e a força do mercado econômico. Com o olhar específico para o carnaval, no período denominado de reflorescimento do carnaval de rua da cidade de Belo Horizonte (2009/2010), essa pesquisa procurou compreender os processos de transformações e de resistências, os acordos e os conflitos vivenciados entre os que “colocam o bloco na rua” e os que gestam a cidade, para que a festa chegasse ao atual status de ser o maior evento turístico festivo da cidade (2020). Por fim, conclui-se que a diversidade de blocos de rua que hoje fazem a festa ultrapassa as bandeiras sociais que o impulsionaram, e o poder público aliado ao mercado econômico chegam ao formato de gestão democrática com diálogo e fomento para balizar tantos interesses diferentes na e para a festa.
Abstract
Starting from the historical understanding of carnival as a popular festival of irreverence and excesses, but also as a space for struggles, claims and the inversion of the social order, this article does the reading of the party's growth process from the tensions between the struggles social, the role of the State as a manager of the city and the strength of the economic market. With a specific look at carnival, in the period known as the resurgence of street carnival in the city of Belo Horizonte (2009/2010), this research sought to understand the processes of transformation and resistance, the agreements and conflicts experienced between those who “put the block on the street” and those who manage the city, so that the party reached the current status of being the biggest festive tourist event in the city (2020). Finally, concludes that the diversity of street blocks that make up the party today goes beyond the social flags that boosted it and the public power allied to the economic market reached the democratic management format with dialogue and promotion to delimit so many different interests in and for the party.
