Resumo
Álbum de Família é uma pesquisa desenvolvida no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes da UFMG, na linha de Artes Visuais, que investiga a fotografia no contexto familiar, a memória e as narrativas ancestrais. Realizada na Ilha do Marajó, a pesquisa mergulha na ancestralidade da autora, cuja família materna é originária do minúsculo distrito do Ganhoão, no extremo norte da ilha, no Pará — lugar onde parte de suas memórias familiares foi se perdendo nos leitos dos rios, ao longo das migrações rumo às cidades grandes. O retorno à ilha ancestral se dá por meio da própria pesquisa, em que a autora enfrenta questões pessoais não resolvidas ao registrar os moradores do Ganhoão com fotografia instantânea, reencantando sua memória familiar enquanto auxilia famílias locais a encantarem suas próprias. Narrada de uma forma literária, a dissertação assume o tom de um romance familiar, entrelaçando realidade e fabulação crítica, como propõe Saidiya Hartman, com o conceito de encantaria na região amazônica, de João de Jesus Paes Loureiro, além de referências literárias como os romances de Dalcídio Jurandir. O resultado é uma narrativa ao mesmo tempo poética e acadêmica, que se constrói entre o artístico, o afeto e a memória.
Abstract
Family Album is a research project developed within the Graduate Program in Arts at UFMG, in the Visual Arts field, which investigates photography in the family context, memory, and ancestral narratives. Carried out at Marajó Island, the research delves into the author’s ancestry, whose maternal family comes from the tiny district of Ganhoão, in the far north of the island, in the state of Pará — a place where much of her family memory was lost in the riverbeds during migrations to bigger cities. The return to the ancestral island takes place through the research itself, in which the author confronts unresolved personal matters by photographing the residents of Ganhoão with instant photography, re-enchanting her own family memory while helping other local families enchant theirs. Told in literary form, the dissertation takes on the tone of a family novel, intertwining reality and critical fabulation, as proposed by Saidiya Hartman, with the concept of enchantment in the Amazonian area by João de Jesus Paes Loureiro, as well as literary references such as the novels by Dalcídio Jurandir. The result is a narrative that is both poetic and academic, built through artistic gesture, affection and memory.
