dc.description.abstractCarlos Chagas described Trypanosoma cruzi and Chagas disease. Recent advances have broadened our knowledge of its biology, immunology, and treatment. In vitro and animal models aid studies, but have limitations, especially in the chronic phase. Human infection is complex, requiring caution in extrapolation and conceptual precision.
