Abstract

Among the main issues studied by the leisure studies, them history is one of the most neglected. Besides the few researches about it, there is also some empirical precariousness in them conclusions. However, researches about the historical developing and historical rising up of leisure may be a necessity to qualitative jumps for a better understanding of the subject. Thus, the aim of this article is to review the leisure's historiography, stressing the main aspects of the historical developing of this subject, identifying the central theses in these researches, identifying some alternative interpretations and trying to extract some theoretical implications.
