Gênero e corpo: uma análise do discurso sobre a transexualidade

Abstract

This paper analyzes “Encontrando Bianca” (“Meeting Bianca”), one of the five videos included in the project “Escolasemhomofobia” (“School without homophobia”), created by the Federal government in 2004 and vetoed in 2011. The video reports, in the 1st person, the transformation of the male José Ricardo in the female Bianca. In the light of some categories borrowed from French Semiotics, such as the relations among individuals and between them and the objects, modalities, themes and figures, notions such as body, sexuality, social gender and identity are discussed, so as to grasp the mechanisms that generate the meaning network related to the issue of transgenderity. The results of the analysis reveals a counter-discourse, which faces the pattern of heteronormativity that prevails in society, in so far as it legitimizes José Ricardo/Bianca’s rupture with the masculinesymbology system and his (her) conjunction with the values of the female universe, thus starting a new paradigm for gender identity.
