Lugar-mundo: a mundialização de existências dominadas

Abstract

This article presents reflections on the contemporary proximity of the place and world categories. In order to do so, it addresses both in its relations of inseparability, shaped by the process of economic globalization that, gradually, conditioned the existence of the subjects in the places. However, it can be said that this process was only possible due to the internalization in these subjects of their own values spread throughout the so-called Modernity, which gradually coupled with the process of global diffusion of the capitalist mode of production. In this sense, it is proposed that these values are associated to an existential perspective derived from relations of domination, comprehended in a broad way and found in several spheres of the production of the existence of the subjects of the world. Thus, the place-world junction seeks to help the geographical debate in order to understand how the process of economic globalization has favored another relational process in a global scope: the conditioning of existences in places and in the world to relations of domination or oppression.
