| dc.description.abstract | This dissertation analyzes the concept of in Aristotle´s Rhetoric. It is divided into two parts: the first examines the status of rhetoric discourse; the second offers the reader a more detailed analysis of . The aim is to identify the elements related to the concept of . The first chapter outlines Plato and Aristotle's positions on rhetoric discourse, followed by a semantic analysis of the term as defined in the Aristotelian philosophical lexicon in Metaphysics V, 21. Part one includes a discussion of the problems involved in the use or application of that term in the Rhetoric. From the second chapter onward, we investigate the question of whether Aristotle actually presented a definition of the emotions in the ethical texts and the Rhetoric. In the sequel, we analyze the characteristics of each listed by the philosopher in the Rhetoric. Finally, with this descriptive apparatus of the emotions, we consider the relationship between emotions and and its cognates and . | |

| local.description.resumo | Esta dissertação analisa a noção de na Retórica de Aristóteles. Ela tem duas partes: na primeira, é discutido o estatuto do discurso retórico; na segunda, é apresentada uma caracterização mais detalhada de , buscando identificar os elementos relacionados a esse conceito. O primeiro capítulo apresenta as posições de Platão e Aristóteles sobre o discurso retórico, seguidas de uma análise semântica do termo tal como definido no léxico filosófico aristotélico em Metafísica V, 21, e uma discussão sobre os problemas envolvidos no aparecimento desse termo na Retórica. A partir do segundo capítulo, apoiados nas obras éticas e na Retórica, investigamos se Aristóteles apresentou, de fato, uma definição para as emoções e, a seguir, analisamos a caracterização de cada um dos elencados pelo filósofo na Retórica.
