Resumo
Este trabalho objetiva analisar as discussões acerca da “justiça” contidas no Livro I da República de Platão, de forma a verificar, no movimento dialético da conversa entre Sócrates e seus interlocutores, aspectos miméticos e sofísticos nas definições de “justiça” propostas por Polemarco e por Trasímaco. A intenção é identificar as possíveis relações entre as respectivas definições de “justiça” e a crise de valores morais e políticos da Atenas do final do século V a.C., pós guerra do Peloponeso. A partir destas análises, o foco do presente trabalho será voltado para o resultado aporético que encerra o livro I.
Abstract
This paper aims at analyzing the discussions about "justice" in Book I of Plato's Republic, in order to verify, in the dialectical movement of the dialogue between Socrates and his interlocutors, the mimetic and sophistic aspects of the definitions of "justice" proposed by
Polemarchus and Thrasymachus. The intention is to identify possible relations between their definitions of "justice" and the moral and political value crisis typical of late 5th cent. BC Athens, after the Peloponnesian War. From these analyses, the conclusion of this paper
focuses on the aporetic outcome that closes book I.
