| dc.description.abstract | The Roman writer Rutilius Taurus Emilianus Palladius, author of a treatise called Opus Agriculturae, has been considered as a mere compiler of Roman and Greek agronomic knowledge. We aim to show that, even if this is the case concerning the technical information he appropriated, it is not for the other parts of this treatise’s composition. Thus, he gave it a calendar-like overall structure, varied the writing of the poem that concludes it, followed a linguistic and stylistic pattern of unusual clearness, established indexes for each book of the work and omitted parallel details that his forebears had taken into account. As a result, he streamlined the consultation of the Opus Agriculturae and endowed this treatise with great communicative effectiveness as well as success in terms of dissemination, especially during the Middle Ages. | |

| local.description.resumo | O escritor romano Rutílio Tauro Emiliano Paládio, autor de um tratado de nome Opus agriculturae, tem sido visto como simples compilador de saberes agronômicos romanos e gregos. Contudo, se isso é verdadeiro quanto aos conteúdos técnicos de que ele se apropriou, desejamos demonstrar que o mesmo não ocorre em outros aspectos da composição desse tratado. Ele, assim, dotou-o da estruturação geral de um calendário, variou a escrita do poema que o encerra, seguiu padrão linguístico e estilístico de incomum clareza, organizou índices para cada livro da obra e silenciou pormenores paralelamente levados em conta pelos seus predecessores. Então, ele agilizou a consulta ao Opus agriculturae e dotou esse tratado de grande eficácia comunicativa, bem como de sucesso em termos de difusão, sobretudo durante a Idade Média. | |
