This study examines the historical perception of knowledge organization systems (KOS) as reinforcing oppressive regimes and epistemicides, particularly regarding issues such as race, gender, sexuality, and feminist studies. Drawing on the concepts of social differentiation, intersectionality, and decoloniality, it explores the complexities and challenges encountered in developing these systems within a context marked by the pervasive influence of technologies like artificial intelligence, semantic interoperability, alignment, and governance in emerging knowledge networks. Furthermore, it proposes an experimental process to operationalize intersectionality and decoloniality as pivotal dimensions in defining the structuring warranty employed in constructing KOS. This involves integrating these perspectives into the development processes while considering the interconnectedness among various forms of oppression and inequality and recognizing the imperative to decolonize knowledge and underlying power structures. Subsequently, the implementation stages of the COEXISTENCE – Thesaurus of Intersectionality and Decolonial Issues: Black Studies, Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies are outlined, followed by an analysis of the constraints and potentials of the experimental instrument devised and the approach adopted in its implementation.
