Rumo à terra do povo do raio: retomada das imagens, retomada pelas imagens em Martírio e Ava Yvy Vera

Abstract

Each one in its own way, Martírio (Vincent Carelli, Ernesto de Carvalho e Tita, 2016) and Ava Yvy Vera – A Terra do Povo do Raio (Guaiviry community, 2016) address the Guarani-Kaiowá’s struggle for the resumption of their ancestral lands. Both films derive from the production of alliances, they result from shared experiences between those who film and those who are filmed; between indigenous and non-indigenous groups; between those who visit and those who welcome. In the article, we intent to describe two different but related ways of “filming with”; two manners of intertwining myth and history, and two ways – both forceful – of elaborating the experience of the resumption in the aim of intervening in their present. If Martírio deals with a broad historical explanation, sheltering, in this explanation, aspects of the Guarani and Kaiowá spirituality, Ava Yvy Vera finds in the myth a place for the elaboration of the historical trauma.
