Descrição zoológica e intertextualidade na poesia didática romana: Virgílio e Cinegéticos

Abstract

Grattius Faliscus was a poet that composed didactic poetry and lived at the same time as Ovid. This paper aims to reflect upon the description he made of a dog from the breed metagontes (Cynegeticon 269-278). Besides that, another objective of this work is to analyze the intertextual relationship between Nemesianus’ Cynegetica 243-250 (3rd century C.E.) and Virgil’s Georgics III, 75-88, since both these excerpts describe the external anatomy of equines. Thus, considering the works of these authors of poetry on hunting in relation to the background identified with the book III of Virgil’s Georgics, we believe that it will be possible to observe compositional tendencies of each author of didactic poetry involved.
