dc.description.abstractThe study aims to discover how the issue of poverty was treated by the most read Portuguese Civil Law experts in Imperial Brazil, starting with the supply of general data, moving through the indication of similarities and differences, and concluding with the attempt to contribute to the understanding of the changes produced in the time frame in analysis. Works of Melo Freire, Lobão, Borges Carneiro, Liz Teixeira, Corrêa Telles and Coelho da Rocha written between the second half of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century will be analysed.

Serão analisados textos de Melo Freire, Lobão, Borges Carneiro, Liz Teixeira, Corrêa Telles e Coelho da Rocha, produzidos entre a segunda metade do século XVIII e a primeira metade do século XIX.
