Resumo
Este estudo feito por meio da revisão da literatura em que trata sobre a correlação entre o Diabetes mellitus e a saúde bucal, procurando respostas para os problemas da cárie, da doença periodontal, da higiene oral e de outras infecções da cavidade bucal que atingem os pacientes diabéticos. Espera-se que este estudo possa esclarecer o mecanismo da doença para melhor atender aos pacientes que apresentam tais problemas, aplicando programas preventivos, pois, eles representam um grupo especial que requer atenção. Propõe-se aplicação de medidas preventivas, curativas e terapêuticas específicas de riscos para alterações orgânicas em geral. Supõe-se que o paciente diabético está mais susceptível a apresentar lesões e disfunções locais ou sistêmicas. OBJETIVO: Mostrar a importância da prevenção de infecções bucais em pacientes diabéticos e a relação com o controle glicêmico desses pacientes. METODOLOGIA: Este trabalho trata-se de uma revisão da literatura a respeito do Diabetes mellitus e da saúde bucal, realizada, a partir do levantamento bibliográfico de artigos científicos, de livros, de monografias e de dissertações relacionadas ao tema obtidas por meio da busca de informações nas bases virtuais de dados BBO, Google Guide e Scielo em língua portuguesa e inglesa, utilizando as palavras-chave: Saúde Bucal e Diabetes. CONCLUSÃO: É importante conhecer a correlação entre Saúde Bucal e Diabetes, contribuindo para que os referidos pacientes permaneçam metabolicamente compensados.
Abstract
Study by reviewing the literature that deals with the correlation between diabetes mellitus and oral health, seeking answers to the problems of caries, periodontal disease, oral hygiene and other infections of the oral cavity that affect diabetics. It is hoped that this study may clarify the mechanism of the disease for better care of patients who have these problems, applying preventive programs, therefore they represent a group that requires special attention. It is proposed preventive measures, curative and therapeutic-specific risks to organic changes in general. It is assumed that the diabetic patient is more susceptible to injury and dysfunction have local or systemic. OBJECTIVE: To show the importance of prevention of oral infections in diabetic patients and its relationship to glycemic control in these patients. METHODOLOGY: This work is a review of the literature on diabetes mellitus and oral health, carried out a bibliographic review of scientific articles, books, monographs and dissertations related to the subject obtained by seeking information on the basis of virtual BBO data, Scielo and Google Guide in Portuguese and English using the keywords: Oral Health and Diabetes. CONCLUSION: It is important to know the correlation between oral health and diabetes, contributing to such patients remain metabolically compensated.
