Resumo
A questão do trabalho infantil foi e um problema social emblemático, complexo e de grande magnitude. A III Conferência Global sobre Trabalho Infantil, realizada em 2013 em Brasília, mostrou, de forma clara, que o combate ao trabalho infantil no mundo precisa ser reforçado com novas estratégias para sua erradicação. O Brasil é reconhecido internacionalmente pela atuação no combate ao trabalho infantil e na implementação de uma rede de proteção social para diminuir a pobreza e a desigualdade social, entretanto, os índices de trabalho infantil ainda são altos, principalmente no âmbito da agricultura e especialmente na agricultura familiar. Mesmo com as iniciativas brasileiras adotadas e diante dos resultados alcançados, o prognóstico que se faz hoje é que, se mantidas as condições atuais no combate ao trabalho infantil, as metas internacionalmente assumidas pelo país não serão alcançadas. O sucesso de novas estratégias de enfrentamento ao trabalho infantil no país só será garantido se estas vierem embasadas no conhecimento das realidades em que ocorrem a inserção precoce de crianças e adolescentes. Neste sentido, esta monografia pretende contribuir para um melhor entendimento sobre o trabalho infantil na agricultura, a partir das percepções de crianças, adolescentes rurais e suas famílias, sobre as atividades desenvolvidas por eles no âmbito da agricultura familiar. Para dar visibilidade a essas percepções, foram apresentados dados da Pesquisa Nacional Participação/Contribuição de Crianças e Adolescentes no Processo Produtivo da Agricultura Familiar, atividade realizada pela Confederação Nacional dos Trabalhadores na Agricultura (CONTAG) no âmbito do Projeto Proteção Infanto-juvenil no Meio Rural, desenvolvido em cooperação com o Programa Internacional para a Eliminação do
Trabalho (IPEC) da Organização Internacional do Trabalho (OIT). Para o presente estudo foram analisados os dados referentes ao Estado do Maranhão.
Abstract
The issue of child labour was and still is an emblematic, many-sided and huge social problem. The III Global Conference on Child Labour held in 2013, Brasilia, clearly shown that the fight against child labour in the world needs to be reinforced with new strategies for its eradication. Brazil is internationally recognized for its acting in combating child labour and implementation of a social safety network to reduce poverty and social inequality, however, rates of child labour are still high, mainly in agriculture and especially in family farming. Even with the Brazilian iniciatives adopted and the results achieved, the prognosis currently done is that, if kept current conditions in the fight against child labour, the internationally assumed targets, by country, will be reached. The success of new
strategies for confronting child labour in the country will only be guaranteed if they came based on the knowledge of the realities that occur early integration of children and adolescents on work. In this sense, this study aims to contribute to a better understanding of child labour in agriculture, from the perceptions of rural children, adolescents and their families about the activities undertaken by them in the context of family farming. To lend visibility to these perceptions, there were presented some data from the National Survey of Participation / Contribution of Children in the Production Process of Family Farming, activity conducted by the National Confederation of Agricultural Workers (CONTAG) under the Project for Protection of Children and Adolescents in Rural Areas, developed in
cooperation with the International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) of the International Labour Organization (ILO). For the present study were analyzed data regarding the state of Maranhão.
