| dc.description.abstract | The present study discusses the criteria for the inclusion of quotes from the Peregrinação by Fernão Mendes Pinto in the Gramática Histórica da Língua Portuguesa by Said Ali. From a theoretical point of view, the study was based fundamentally on Sylvain Auroux’s concept of grammatization. All identified quotes were collected and analyzed. It was tested the hypothesis that the role of these quotes would have been to highlight syntactic patterns that underwent a change from the 16th to the 20th century. The collected data revealed that this hypothesis is not entirely correct, being the criteria for the inclusion multiple: to sustain an interpretation of the history of the Portuguese language as a dual process, that is, integrating both rupture (innovation) and continuity (conservation); presenting linguistic particularity of the author; attesting collective linguistic patterns (a norm), rather than individual ones; and continuing a tradition of valuing the author due to the existence of clear linguistic links between 16th century Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese at that time. | |

| local.description.resumo | O presente estudo discute os critérios de inclusão de abonações da Peregrinação de Fernão Mendes Pinto na Gramática Histórica da Língua Portuguesa de Said Ali. Do ponto de vista teórico, o estudo se baseou fundamentalmente no conceito de gramatização de Sylvain Auroux. Foram coletadas e analisadas todas as abonações identificadas. Testou-se a hipótese de que o papel dessas abonações teria sido o de evidenciar padrões sintáticos que passaram por mudança do séc. XVI para o séc. XX. Os dados coletados revelaram que essa hipótese não procede totalmente, tendo sido os critérios de inclusão múltiplos: sustentar uma interpretação da história da língua portuguesa como processo dual, ou seja, integrando tanto ruptura (inovação) quanto continuidade (conservação); apresentar particularidade linguística do autor; atestar padrões linguísticos coletivos (uma norma), mais do que individuais; e dar continuidade a uma tradição de valorização do autor em função da existência de nítidos vínculos linguísticos entre o português quinhentista e o português do Brasil de então. | |
