Um estudo da variação linguística no liame preposicional em construções [vdar + preposição + vinfinitivo] no português do Brasil

Abstract

This research analyzed 1,141 occurrences of the DAR verb in the Portuguese language, collected on the site “Corpus do Português”, from the 18th to the 20th century using the VDAR + PREPOSITION + VINFINITIVE structure as the search syntax. After collecting the data in the corpus, we set out to categorize the constructions and investigate the substantial differences they presented, since they seemed to us formally identical. We also try to identify their main linguistic functions, as well as to explore possible contexts of variation between them. In order to achieve these objectives, we theoretically supported the model of the Constructions Grammar, more specifically in the Principle of Non-Synonymy (BOLINGER 1968; HAIMAN 1985; CLARK 1987; GOLDBERG, 1995), and we adopted an interface methodology between gramaticalization of construction and constructionalization, in the terms of Traugott; Trousdale (2013), and a sociolinguistic Labovian (NEVALAINEN and PALANDER, 2012; POPLACK 2012. Our results show four types of constructions with the verb DAR: (i) mesoconstructions, (ii) constructions of crystallized structure, (iii) aspectual constructions and (iv) modal constructions. In addition, the data accounted for a context of possible variation only in aspectual constructs.
