Resumo

A 9-year-old male patient was referred to the oral diagnosis clinic with asymptomatic swelling in the right maxilla. The lesion measured 45 mm and involved teeth 11 to 17. The lesion caused tooth displacement and mobility, showing similar color to the normal mucosa, with erythematous areas. An incisional biopsy was performed, and the histopathologic analysis revealed features consistent with central giant cell lesion (CGCL). The treatment chosen was weekly intralesional injections of triamcinolone for 10 weeks. A significant reduction in the lesion size was achieved. However, additional applications were necessary. After 2 months of the last application, the panoramic radiography revealed a re sidual radiolucent image. Four months later, the lesion had regressed more and cytologic analysis revealed absence of the CGCL features. The patient returned periodically for evaluation, and the treatment was found to be satisfactory. There were no relapses during the 5 years of follow-up.
