Pelos caminhos da maria fumaça: o trabalhador ferroviário , formação e resistência pelo trabalho

Abstract

This study reconstitutes the process of implantation of railway networks in Minas Gerais state, in the late of 19th century and early 20th, placing the influence of Estrada de ferro Oeste de Minas-EFOM over the city of Divinópolis, located 110 kilometers far from Belo Horizonte, the state capital city. It also reconstitutes the agglutination of the state railways, from 1931 on, in a single complex called Rede Mineira de Viação, under the administration of the state government, and the economical difficulties met. Through the testimony by railway employees, this study also analyses the expansion of the capitalistic relationships of production, in the mid-20th century, by the institutionalization of the employee work created by the railway company, transforming the employee into the subject of his right. Otherwise, the study analyses the process of resigntion of that employee to the demands of the production of the company through daily work relationships. Based on the testimony of railway employees, it also analyses the collective and individual manifestations of those em ployees, adverse tothe estaklished conditions of work. The collective manifestations are relative to the strikes performed by the railwoekers, in particular, in the mid-20th century, claiming the materialization of their work rights such as the ready payment of their wages. In the process of mobilization and organization of the workrs, the participation of the Brazilizn Communist Party stands out; and the stabilization on the job is guaranteed to the railworkers. Concluding, the study analyses the inverted character of the emplooyee's conscience over reality.
