Resumo
O retábulo do Estilo Nacional Português foi alcunhado por Robert Smith em célebre livro sobre a talha em Portugal. Em Minas é possível encontrar traços deste estilo em raríssimas peças de fins do XVII. No século XVIII, em especial até 1725, o uso destas estruturas se tornaria comum. O Nacional Português nas Minas marca o berço de uma das mais esplendorosas épocas artísticas e culturais, nos legando obras de inestimável valor e artistas de alto nível. Todavia, desde as tentativas de sistematizar, catalogar e classificar nossos retábulos feitas por Germain Bazin e Lúcio Costa, o interesse pelo Nacional Português se estagnou, causando um retardamento danoso no entendimento dos primeiros anos de exploração aurífera e sua produção criativa. Propomos, portanto, um estudo sistemático de retábulos deste estilo nas Minas Gerais, com abordagens estilísticas e iconográficas, propondo escolas ou oficinas ligadas à talha do início do século XVIII em Minas Gerais.
Abstract
The altarpiece of the Portuguese National Style was dubbed by Robert Smith in his celebrated book on woodcarving in Portugal. In Minas is possible to find traces of this style in rare parts of the late XVII. In the eighteenth century, particularly until 1725, the use of these structures became common. The Portuguese National in Minas brand in the cradle of one of the most magnificent artistic and cultural epochs, bequeathing us works of inestimable value and high level artists. However, since attempts to systematize, and classify our altarpieces made by Germain Bazin and Lúcio Costa, the interest in the Portuguese National stagnated, causing a harmful delay in understanding the early years of gold exploration and creative output. Therefore, we propose a systematic study of this style altarpieces in Minas Gerais, with stylistic and iconographic approaches, proposing schools or workshops related to hoist the early eighteenth century in Minas Gerais.
