Historiografia da revolução científica: Alexandre Koyré, Thomas Kuhn e Steven Shapin

Abstract

From the point of view of historiography, this dissertation presents ananalysis of the works of Alexander Koyré (18921964), Thomas Kuhn(19221996) and Steven Shapin (1943) who focused on the ScientificRevolution. Regarding to Koyrés work, we identified how that authordescribes the scientific revolution occurred in the seventeenth centuryand we analyzed how he proposed a new understanding of scientificdevelopment. In Kuhns work, we demonstrated how that authorbroadened the notion of scientific revolution present in Koyré. InShapin´s work, we analyze the criticism that this author addresses tothe historical notion of scientific revolution created by Koyré anddeveloped by Kuhn. Finally, we conclude that the scientific developmentdescribed by the concept of revolution, as one can find in Koyré andKuhn, despite of Shapins criticism, brings real gains to the historicalanalysis of science.
