A vez e a voz do aluno na educação básica: práticas em curso na escola contemporânea

Abstract

This article discusses the role that K-12 education students have played nowadays. In accordance with the continuous stream of changes that happen at school, it is necessary to rethink students' time and voice and identify their understanding about this issue. We understand that students' participation becomes an imperative for institutional democracy and an exercise of citizenship which can contribute to reducing inequalities in educational and social opportunities. Thus, we analyze pedagogical practices that will promote a greater students' role, democratizing the relations which are established at school. Conclusions show that increased students' participation in K-12 education requires a new attitude from the professionals involved in the schooling process and implies changes for initial teacher education. They also highlight the need for further research in the area.
