Resumo
O presente artigo é um estudo de caso do tratamento realizado em uma das coleções especiais do Centro de Memória da Medicina (Cememor) da Universidade de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Trata-se da coleção de teses médicas inaugurais, datadas entre os séculos XIX ao XX. Por conter pesquisas científicas na área da saúde publicadas no Brasil desde o século XIX, essas teses têm muita relevância histórica, contribuindo assim com a preservação de registros sobre a trajetória da Medicina no país. O objetivo principal da pesquisa foi a organização das teses antigas do Cememor. Os objetivos específicos foram: aplicar técnicas de conservação preventiva na coleção; criar instrumentos que possibilitem a recuperação desse acervo no Sistema Pergamum da UFMG; propiciar mais visibilidade para a coleção e para o Cememor, enquanto principal responsável pela gestão dos objetos de memória em saúde da Universidade. Os resultados demonstram uma nova organização e melhora visibilidade da coleção de de teses inaugurais.
Abstract
This article is a case study of the treatment carried out in one of the special collections of the Medicine Memory Center (Cememor) of the University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). The collection is composed ofinaugural medical theses, dating from the 19th to the 20th centuries. Containing scientific research on the health field published in Brazil since the 19th century, these theses have considerable historical relevance, thus contributing to the preservationof records on the trajectory of Medicine in the country. The main objective of the research was the organization of the ancient theses of Cememor. The specific objectives were: to apply preventive conservation techniques to the collection; create instruments to enable the recovery of this collection in the Pergamum System of UFMG; provide more visibility for the collection and for Cememor, as the main responsible for the management of health memory objects at the University. The results demonstrate a new organization and improved visibility of the collection of inaugural theses.
