Infecção urinária em pacientes em unidades de terapia intensiva após cateterismo vesical

Abstract

Urinary tract infection associated with indwelling catheter is among related to the most common health care in intensive care units, having as one of the risk factors the long residence time that catheter infections. This study sought to identify through an integrative review the relationship between urinary infection and prolonged stay of indwelling catheters in patients admitted to intensive care units. It was found that the prolonged stay of the bladder catheter may lead to the risk of urinary tract infection and one of the most important strategies to prevent removal of the catheter was in accordance with the earlier clinical course possible.
