| dc.description.abstract | Shakespeare, according to Pessoa and Rita Patrício, “is the cause of the lack of construction to which modernity is condemned and which characterizes it. To this extent, Pessoa takes up the figure of Shakespeare as a figure of modernity that represents it in terms of its constructive imperfection” (PATRÍCIO, 2012:201). We could approximate Pessoa’s expression to Milton and consider him a “supra-Ovid” or creator of a “supra- -Bible.” Milton’s writing alters the canon by challenging the auctoritas of the religious text. | |

Poderíamos aproximar a expressão de Pessoa a Milton e considerá-lo um “supra-Ovídio” ou criador de uma “supra-Bíblia”. A escrita de Milton altera o cânone e questiona a auctoritas do texto religioso. | |
