Produção científica dos doutores egressos do PPGGOC/UFMG

Abstract

The Graduate Program in Knowledge Management and Organization at the Federal University of Minas Gerais was designed by experienced professors with a doctorate in Information Science, in line with the most modern international trends, based on adequate theoretical foundations, on defining the core aspects of the program, on defining the curricular structure, on benchmarking the i-School model, and on the triad of information, technology and people. This paper aims to quantitatively identify the scientific production of doctors who graduated from the aforementioned Program in the field of Information Science. The methodology used was the analysis of the resumes of graduated doctors in the Lattes Platform, based on the categories of scientific production considered by the Advisory Committee of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development for granting productivity scholarships in research in Information Science. As contributions, this research: (i) found that approximately 41% of graduated doctors work with scientific research; (ii) identified that 61% of the sample's graduates had scientific production in the area of Information Science; and (iii) found that, in the case of PPGGOC/UFMG, the three most frequent backgrounds of doctoral students are the same as those of faculty members at i-Schools. The numbers identified are positive and indicate that the scientific production of PPGGOC is important in Information Science. This demonstrates that the Program fulfills its objectives in enabling academic training with specific skills in knowledge organization and with the insertion of graduates in scientific research.
