Resumo
Durante as décadas de 1960 e 1970, momento em que diversos países latino-americanos viviam sob regimes ditatoriais, importantes e contundentes manifestações artísticas se desenvolveram. Diferenciando-se da produção em curso na América do Norte e na Europa, os artistas que atuavam no Brasil e na América Latina reagiam a um panorama de coerções, perseguições ideológicas e humilhações. A atuação como artista neste contexto acabou por configurar um novo jeito de se relacionar com a arte, com o outro, com seu corpo, com acidade e com o real. Esta pesquisa procura identificar as qualidades desse artista e as possibilidades criadas por ele para fundar senão um outro mundo, ao menos uma outra utopia. Neste contexto, a obra de Artur Barrio foi escolhida pela possibilidade de articular um pensamento sobre esse período, particularmente ao analisarmos suas situações.Perscrutando os meandros da arte de Barrio e de sua geração, chegamos à ideia de um artista-sempre-político. Com este termo pretendemos enfatizar a atuação de um artista que transforma um contexto macropolítico por meio da criação de experiências artísticas que se inserem no real. Essas experiências teriam o poder de fundar o sentimento de uma outra realidade e convocar as forces revulsivas para um despertar de consciência e para mudanças, essas sim, na vida concreta e na política.
Abstract
Important artistic manifestations happened in Latin America during the 1960's and 1970's, a period when several of its countries lived under dictatorial regimes. Unlike the production then underway in North America and Europe, the artists active in Latin America were reacting to a context of ideological persecutions, behavioral coercion, and humiliations. Theartists activity in this context wound up configuring a new way of relating with art, with the Other, with ones own body, with the city, and with the real. The present research seeks to identify and define the characteristics of this artist as well as the possibilities he invented in order to establish, if not another world, at least another utopia. In this context, the work ofArtur Barrio was chosen for its significance as a reflection over this period, specially in the series situações. Analyzing Barrio's artistic production as well as his generation's, we arrived at the idea of the always-political-artist. With this term we intend to emphasize the work ofthe artist as potentially transformative of the macropolitical context through artistic experiences inserted in the real. These experiences had the power to promote the feeling of a different reality and evoke the forces necessary for an awakening of consciousness and concrete political change.
