Resumo
Nossa contribuição visa a uma análise do capítulo “Gottfried e Amir”, do romance O idiota do século XXI: um divã (título original: Der Idiot des 21. Jahrhunderts: ein Divan), do escritor alemão Michael Kleeberg, publicado em agosto de 2018. No referido capítulo, espacialidades e temporalidades que envolvem as duas personagens – Gottfried e Amir – são fluidas, de modo que os deslocamentos espaciais e temporais são construídos a partir de uma cena inusitada, bem ao gosto da liberdade ficcional: o diálogo entre um imigrante alemão do século XIX e um refugiado sírio do século XXI. Numa espécie de espelhamento das trajetórias, das dificuldades e dos infortúnios desses deslocados, Michael Kleeberg oferece ao leitor a oportunidade de refletir sobre as ondas migratórias em plena globalização sob a égide do capitalismo, que, para muitos, implica vivências traumáticas de imigração, fuga e exílio, em uma vida “hifenizada”, como, certa vez, postulou o crítico e teórico Anatol Rosenfeld.
Abstract
Our contribution aims at an analysis of the chapter “Gottfried and Amir”, of the novel The Idiot of the 21st Century: a Divan (title in German: Der Idiot des 21. Jahrhunderts: ein Divan) by the Ger-man writer Michael Kleeberg, published in August 2018. In that chapter, spatialities and temporalities involving the two characters − Gottfried and Amir − are fluid, so that spatial and temporal displace-ments are constructed from an unusual scene, much to the liking of fictional freedom: the dialogue be-tween a nineteenth-century German immigrant and a twenty-first-century Syrian refugee. In a kind of mirroring of the trajectories, difficulties and misfortunes of these displaced persons, Michael Kleeberg offers the reader the opportunity to reflect on the migratory waves in full globalization under the aegis of capitalism, which, for many, implies traumatic experiences of immigration, escape and exile, in a “hyphenated” life, as he once posited the critic and theorist Anatol Rosenfeld.
