“Meu Reino sem Folia”: musealização do patrimônio imaterial no Muquifu

Abstract

This text analyzes the exposition “Meu Reino sem Folia of the Museum of Urban Quilombos and Favelas (MUQUIFU) by discussing the musealization processes of the immaterial heritage. The exposition which gathers objects and images of the Folia de Reis tradition. The exhibition was conceived by the museum’s curator Mauro Luiz da Silva and the photographer Bianca de Sá who lives in the Santa Lúcia agglomerate, where the proposal of the museum’s creation took place. The Folia de Reis tradition is a significant cultural heritage in the state and it involves the devotion to the Three Kings during the christmas period. We discuss how this heritage is represented in the museum by considering possibilities of the construction of other narratives about the city of Belo Horizonte.
