Resumo
Travestis e transexuais são tradicionalmente deixadas à margem da sociedadeem razão do estigma que lhes persegue. Grande parte delas acaba por estarinserida na prostituição, seja por escolha ou necessidade, e têm sua inserção nomercado formal de trabalho prejudicada diante do preconceito e dadiscriminação. A essas pessoas (cuja humanidade, inclusive, é questionada pelospadrões impostos) a sociedade atribui, instantaneamente, a atividadeprostituinte e o HIV, mas elas, definitivamente, não se limitam a isso. Travestitrabalha, e trabalha sob condições que tendem para uma maior exploração desua mão-de-obra. Diante do preconceito que já as relaciona com condições demarginalidade, há uma maior tendência de seus empregadores em se atribuírema virtude de salvadores e, assim, estariam em uma posição de exigir maisem razão da oportunidade por eles oferecida. Esta pesquisa buscacompreender a realidade de trabalho de travestis e transexuais quando seencontram inseridas no mercado formal de emprego, mas também as condiçõesque a permeiam, que a antecedem e, talvez, as que se sucedem. Passar-se-á poruma reconstrução e designação de conceitos importantes para se compreendero fenômeno estudado; as narrativas de vida de travestis e transexuaisentrevistadas ao longo da pesquisa, até que se chegue em um ponto em que serápossível analisar como se dá a relação travesti - patrão e realizar uma crítica doemprego enquanto salvação.
Abstract
Transvestites and transsexuals have traditionally been left out of society becauseof the stigma attached to them. Most of them end up being inserted inprostitution, either by choice or necessity, and have their insertion in the formallabor market spoiled by prejudice and discrimination. To these people (whosehumanity is even questioned by imposed standards) society instantly attributesprostitution and HIV, but they are definitely not limited to that. Transvestiteworks, and works under conditions that tend to further exploit their labor force.Because of the prejudice that already relates them to conditions of marginality,there is a greater tendency of their employers to attribute themselves the"virtue" of saviors and thus would be in a position to "demand more" becauseof the "opportunity" offered by them. This work seeks to understand the laborreality of transvestites and transsexuals when they are inserted in the formal jobmarket, but also the conditions that permeate it, which precede it and, perhaps,those that follow. We will go through a reconstruction and designation ofimportant concepts to understand the phenomenon studied; the life stories oftransvestites and transsexuals interviewed throughout the research, until it reaches a point where it will be possible to analyze how the transvestite - employer relationship occurs and to perform a critique of employment as "salvation".
