Relação entre gestão do conhecimento e ciência da informação: perspectiva nacional e internacional

Abstract

: Information Science operates in two major areas of concentration, human and technological, however, despite the current scenario of constant changes characteristic of the knowledge society, historically, the technological aspect predominates to the detriment of the human and social aspect. Knowledge Management, due to its emphasis on the integration between people, processes, technology and structure, promises to bring significant contributions to Information Science. Checking how the literature has addressed the relationship between Knowledge Management and Information Science is, therefore, the objective of this study. To this end, a systematic review of the literature was conducted, considering for the analysis national and international articles retrieved through the Scopus, Web of Science, Emerald Journals and BRAPCI databases. The findings include the identification of two approaches, a more conservative one that understands Knowledge Management and Information Science as distinct related areas and another, more revolutionary one, that considers Knowledge Management as a natural evolution of Information Science. While international studies are divided between the two approaches, nationally the more conservative view prevails.
