"Copacabana" e "se vivêssemos todos juntos?": um ensaio sobre as contribuições do cinema acerca da velhice na contemporaneidade

Abstract

Old age is a theme that has be present in cinematographic productions, contributing to the dissemination of certain social representations, legitimizing behaviors and ways of life. But which really is the place of the old age people in contemporary society? The recent creation of categories such as the Third Age reveal a positive discourse about old age, highlighting an ideal person as active, healthy and productive. Organizations, whether governmental, business or civil society, are constructing discourses and practices from these representations, (re) producing them. In this sense, in this theoretical paper we aim to analyze how the old age is presented and discussed in the films "Copacabana" and "What if we all lived together?", having as the backdrop the place occupied by the old age in contemporary society. The discussions are aimed at reflecting on who these persons are and them specificities, which escape generic and abstract categories such as Best Age.
