Normas costumeiras de manejo de água e terra no território dos gerais do alto-médio São Francisco

Abstract

The analysis of the uses that the peasant populations make of the resources of nature present in their territories reveals the importance of these elements in the socio-cultural dynamics. In the Semiarid region, the relationship between water and land is manifested in a specific way, arousing a singular interest in how rural communities live with the available natural resources. Considering this reality, the present study analyzed the customary uses of water and land in gerais, seeking to understand, through the ethnographic method, the socio-environmental specificities and how they interfered in the productive, community and family arrangements. In the Semiarid North of Minas Gerais, in the Upper-Middle São Francisco River, in gerais, families created their own ways of accessing water and management the land, through common water management and the cultivation of grocery. The vegetable gardens and farms are planted according to the possibility of access to water sources, using the fertility of wet areas.
