Resumo
O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a abordagem da semântica nos livros didáticos de Língua Portuguesa destinados aos alunos dos 8º e 9º anos do ensino fundamental, com o intuito de avaliar a eficácia do tratamento desse tema no processo de ensino-aprendizagem. A semântica, sendo o campo da linguística que estuda o significado das palavras, frases e textos, é essencial para o desenvolvimento das habilidades interpretativas e comunicativas dos alunos, especialmente em uma fase crítica de sua formação acadêmica. Esta pesquisa baseia-se nas contribuições teóricas de autores como Cançado, Ilari e Geraldi, Abrahão, entre outros, para definir os principais temas semânticos abordados nos livros didáticos. Foram analisados os conteúdos semânticos presentes nos livros “Teláris Português”, com foco na clareza das explicações, na relevância dos exemplos e na adequação dos temas aos objetivos educacionais dos 8º e 9º anos. Os resultados indicam que, embora os livros didáticos apresentem uma estrutura organizada e uma introdução clara aos conceitos semânticos, há uma falta de profundidade e de atividades que desafiem os alunos a aplicar os conceitos em contextos variados. Conclui-se que, ao aprimorar a abordagem da semântica nos livros didáticos, é possível contribuir para um ensino mais eficaz e enriquecedor da Língua Portuguesa, preparando melhor os alunos para os desafios comunicativos e interpretativos.
Abstract
The present work aims to analyze the approach to semantics in Portuguese language textbooks aimed at students in the 8th and 9th years of elementary school, with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of treating this topic in the teaching-learning process. Semantics, being the field of linguistics that studies the meaning of words, phrases and texts, is essential for the development of students' interpretive and communicative skills, especially in a critical phase of their academic training. This research is based on the theoretical contributions of authors such as Cançado, Ilari and Geraldi, Abrahão, among others, to define the main semantic themes covered in textbooks. The semantic contents present in the “Teláris Português” books were analyzed, focusing on the clarity of the explanations, the relevance of the examples and the adequacy of the themes to the educational objectives of the 8th and 9th years. The results indicate that, although the textbooks present an organized structure and a clear introduction to semantic concepts, there is a lack of depth and activities that challenge students to apply the concepts in varied contexts. It is concluded that, by improving the approach to semantics in textbooks, it is possible to contribute to a more effective and enriching teaching of the Portuguese Language, better preparing students for communicative and interpretative challenges.
