Resumo
Este artigo buscou apresentar informações relacionadas à cidade de Montes Claros - MG. A primeira parte é dedicada aos governos de Antônio Lafetá Rebello (1967 – 1970 e 1978 – 1982), vulgo Toninho Rebello, um prefeito que foi querido por boa parte da população que viveu naquela Montes Claros. A nível nacional, o Brasil passava pela ditadura militar (1964 – 1985). A segunda parte do artigo é sobre o coronel Georgino Jorge de Souza, que, em uma charge da época, foi retratado como Custer, nome referente a um general estadunidense, conhecido por matar indígenas. Na terceira parte, apresentamos um caso da época da ditadura, o qual salta aos olhos, ligado à cidade de Montes Claros e que toma grandes proporções, chegando ao conhecimento nacional, a saber, o de Salustiano Gomes Ferreira, mais conhecido como Saluzinho. Essas três histórias têm em comum o período da ditadura militar e a cidade de Montes Claros. Por meio delas, a referida cidade norte-mineira pode ter um pouco mais de sua história contada.
Abstract
This paper sought to present information related to the city of Montes Claros-MG. The first part of the paper is dedicated to the governmentsof Antônio Lafetá Rebello (1967 – 1970 and 1978 – 1982), known as Toninho Rebello, a mayor who was loved by a good part of the population who lived in that Montes Claros. Brazil was going through a military dictatorship (1964 – 1985).The second part of the paper is about Colonel Georgino Jorge de Souza, who,in a cartoon of the time, was portrayed as Custer, a name referring to an American general, known for killing indigenous people. In the third part, we present a curious case from the time of the dictatorship, which is eye-catching, linked to the city of Montes Claros, and which takes on great proportions, coming to national attention, namely that of Salustiano Gomes Ferreira, better known as Saluzinho. These three stories have the period of the military dictatorship and the city of Montes Claros in common, and through them, it is possible to learn a little more about the history of the Northern Minas Gerais city of Montes Claros.
