Espaço e tempo: o turismo e a valorização do patrimônio histórico-cultural desde o Sertão Roseano

Abstract

Unesco has created mechanisms for fostering the protection and understanding of the cultural heritage. Principles and guidelines of this organization suggest that the notion of cultural heritage cannot be divorced from the historical context framework that assigns value to time and duration of History. What this paper proposes is a historical-cultural discussion about the territorial formation of the Sertão (a kind of savannah) – region in Brazil located Minas Gerais. Besides it seeks to increase the tourism to develop the appreciation of the historical-cultural heritage of the Sertão since the work of João Guimarães Rosa [JGR]. The theoretical and conceptual arrangement of the notion of historical time, geographical space and historic and cultural heritage circumscribe the analysis on regional scale of the Guimarães Rosa Sertão, remade from the ‘cattle path’ [caminho da boiada], trip made by JGR in 1952. The braudelian categories of long term [the structurals aspects], midle term [the cyclical aspects] and short term [the happening present time] goes through the regional spatiality of the territory mediated by the literary poese and the modern contradictions. The methodology takes the regionalist novel written by JGR and the local landscape and culture for the cultural heritage development.
